Using Rules to Segment an Audience

Rules form the basis of dynamic audiences. Rules are what allow you to target your posts and get the right information to the appropriate users. You can configure your dynamic audience using attributes, user behaviors, or a combination of both.

Rules play an important part in successfully implementing your communication strategy. We recommend that you are thoughtful in how you use them. Try to avoid creating audiences that are too small to be effective or too niche to be used with any frequency. For more information about how to create an audience, refer to Creating Audiences.

User Attributes

User attributes are used to categorize your users into distinguished groupings. Common user attributes include:

  • Department / Group
  • Job Title
  • Office Location / Remote Status
  • People Leader (Y/N)
  • Hire Date
  • Union Status

User attributes will generally come from your human resource system, Azure Active Directory, or any other system that you use for user management.  Because we know every company is different, we have included space for 40 custom user attributes that you can define and use as needed.

User Behaviors

User behaviors are pieces of information that we collect in Korbyt Anywhere based on how users are interacting with your communication platform.  These behaviors are updated automatically as users join your program, continue to be active, and engage with content. Common user behaviors include:

  • Join Status (Joined) – Based on when the user first logged in to Korbyt Anywhere.
  • User Activity – Based on when the user last logged in to Korbyt Anywhere.
  • Subscriber – Based on the number of categories that the user has subscribed to.
  • Engager – Based on how often the user engages with content, which involves clicking, liking, commenting on, sharing, and bookmarking content.
  • Resource User – Based on how many resources the user actively uses.
