Player Installation for BrightSIgn Media Players XT

Below are the different steps for installing a BrightSign and also how to perform a factory reset

Please Note: Before the BrightSign is installed it needs to be on a network to be able to reach the Cloud.  It needs to be able to obtain the provisioning code from *.korbyt.com.

 

Below is an example of a BrightSign XT model

The HDMI cable has to be connected on the HDMI Out port:

Installation Instructions for a BrightSign with a MicroSD card

  1. Unpack the BrightSign player from the box that it came in
  2. Insert blank MicroSD card and screw in the cover plate
  3. Connect an HDMI cable to the HDMI out port, keyboard and mouse (if applicable)
  4. Connect the power cable and a network cable with access to the korbyt.com cloud
  5. Click on “Stop Timer” and then Next
  6.  Network Setup: Ethernet or WiFi (the player must have a WiFi module and antenna installed)
  7. Configure Networking
  8. Publishing Options: Select Standalone
  9. Set Device Info: Device Name, Description, TimeZone , Firmware: 8.0.48 or later (or use current if that firmware is already installed)
  10. Reboot device, once complete
  11. Wait for IP address to be displayed
  12. From a browser navigate to http://ipaddressDisplayed
  13. User  name: admin, Password: serial number on bottom of player
  14. Select SD tab, upload the file ‘autorun.zip’ (our player software) to the device
  15. Select Control Tab, Reboot the player
  16. After player reboots twice the provisioning page will be displayed

Installation Instructions for BrightSign with a SSD

  1. Unpack the BrightSign player from the box that it came in
  2. Connect an HDMI cable to the HDMI out port, keyboard and mouse (if applicable)
  3. Connect the power cable and a network cable with access to the korbyt.com cloud
  4. On the BrightSign Device Setup screen, Click on “Stop Timer” and then in the same window click on the Next button
  5.  On the next window select the Network Setup: Ethernet or WiFi (the player must have a WiFi module and antenna installed) can be selected here.
  6. Depending on what you select, configuring the network is next (Ethernet or WiFi)
  7. For Ethernet: To use current settings displayed, press USE CURRENT SETTINGS.
  8. To change the IP address, Proxy, or Time Server, select CHANGE SETTINGS. Press Next to proceed.
  9. For WIFI: fill out the SSID and password if you want your player to communicate over a wireless network.
  10. After configuring the network by selecting either Ethernet or WiFi – click on Next – Publishing Options
  11. During Publishing Options: Select Standalone
  12. Device Info: Device Name, Description,  Time Zone and select Firmware: 8.0.48 or later (or use current if that firmware is already installed)
  13. Click Finish
  14. Reboot the device once all steps have been completed
  15. Wait for IP address to be displayed
  16. Next Step is to obtain the AutoRun file from our support page
  17. Connect to https://support.rmgnetworks.com login using credentials that were provided for your account (Contact RMG Support if you need credentials) and search for BrightSign.  The search will list download section with some options to download.  From here you can download the latest version of the Autorun file.
  18. Open a browser and navigate to (http://IP Address) using the IP Address displayed on the monitor connected to the player
  19. to login use: User  name: admin, Password: serial number on bottom of player
  20. These are the tabs available on the BrightSign web config page.
  21. Select SSD tab, browse to select the file ‘autorun.zip’ (our player software) to the device. Please NOTE that when downloading the lateset version of the autorun files it has be as a zip file: “autorun.zip”  this is how it needs to be uploaded to the sign
  22. Click on the Browse button to select the file
  23. Once the file is selected click on the upload file
  24. The file will display on the list of loaded files as autorun.brs on the SSD tab
  25. From the Control Tab on the web page, Reboot the player
  26. After player reboots twice (manually from the Control tab) the provisioning page will be displayed (first boot takes longer on a SSD system due the time it takes to create the virtual swap file)

    Factory Reset BrightSign Player

    1. Delete the player from your Korbyt tenant to de-provision the player (if needed)
    2. From a browser navigate to (http://IPaddress) using the IP Address of your BrightSign
    3. Enter (User  name: admin) / (Password: serial number on bottom of player)
    4. If you do know know the IP address, work with your network team to identify it.
    5. The main page of the BrightSign web config page will look like the picture below:
    6. From the SSD tab click on the crossed wrenches icon next to autorun.brs to delete the  ‘autorun.brs’ file
    7. On the File Tools screen click on the Delete button
    8. You will get a message the file was deleted successfully. The SSD tab should not display the autorun.brs file after it is deleted
    9. Select Factory Reset from the  ‘Control’ tab on the BrightSign Web Page
    10. Click OK to proceed with Factory Reset
    11. Factory Reset starts
